ORLANDO (Sept. 7, 2007) – Nearly one year ago, on Sept. 9, 2006, a breathtaking new 1,500 room hotel opened its doors in Orlando — Rosen Shingle Creek — the seventh and most luxurious hotel in the Rosen Hotels & Resorts group. Now celebrating a wildly successful, whirlwind first year, Rosen Shingle Creek looks back at all that has transpired in the 365 days since the hotel opened.

“Rosen Shingle Creek is the hotel I’ve always dreamed of creating, and I couldn’t be more proud to see how this baby has grown into the incredible, award-winning hotel it is today,” said Harris Rosen, President & COO of Rosen Hotels & Resorts. “Like any proud parent, I’m enjoying every step and every accomplishment, all the while planning even bigger and better things for the future at Rosen Shingle Creek.”

Here’s a look at what’s been going on at Rosen Shingle Creek during its amazing first year:

  • Within months of its opening, the hotel had already won numerous awards, including the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award, the Gold Key Award from Meetings & Conventions magazine and Successful Meetings Pinnacle Award. In fact, Rosen Shingle Creek was the first hotel open less than a year to be awarded the Pinnacle Award.
  • At Rosen Shingle Creek, it’s always “time to make the donuts,” or pastries, rather. In a single year, hotel pastry chefs made 324,864 Danish pastries (or 24,072 dozen) as well as almost a half million cookies — 438,480 or 36,540 dozen, to be exact! That’s just part of the reason why the hotel used a whopping 47,436 pounds of butter, 155,555 dozen eggs, and 21,100 pounds of flour.
  • Whether guests use them onsite, or smuggle them home in their luggage, exactly 185,472 little bottles of shampoo were consumed at Rosen Shingle Creek this year. (We just hope they remembered to put them in a quart-sized plastic bag at the airport!)
  • To remind guests of their amazing stay at Rosen Shingle Creek, they were invited to take home a little souvenir: More than 350,000 Rosen Shingle Creek logo pens now grace desks, pockets and purses throughout the world!
  • Talk about beautification efforts… More than 1,500 women (and men) experienced a pampering facial at The Spa at Shingle Creek this year. Nearly two-thirds of those chose the signature Orange Blossom facial, and 70 opted for the Ponce de Leon
“Anti-Aging Facial” to turn back the clock.
  • Whether guests come to Shingle Creek to participate in meetings and conventions, or to enjoy a relaxing vacation in Orlando, they arrive hungry. In one year, the hotel served 10,160 pounds of penne pasta, 30,852 individual pieces of sushi and 113,767 pounds of fruit. They washed it down with 317,976 bottles of Rosen Shingle Creek-labeled water.
  • At Rosen Shingle Creek, there’s no need to ask, “Where’s the beef?”  In one year, guests consumed an astounding 20,982 pounds of deli ham, 45,300 pounds of bacon, 43,930 8-ounce hamburgers, 10,080 pounds of beef tenderloin, 12,650 pounds of shrimp and 187,296 chicken breasts.

“To say it’s been a busy year is an understatement. To say it’s been an incredibly successful year is an even bigger understatement,” jokes Leslie Menichini, Director of Sales and Marketing for Rosen Shingle Creek. “When we look back at all that the Shingle Creek team has accomplished this year, we are not only incredibly amazed, but incredibly proud. We look forward to making an even bigger impact as we embark on year two.”
