Gerardo Parra Ontiveros, Mi Casa Tequila Taqueria Chef

Inspired by the rich cultural tapestry of Caracas, Venezuela, where he was born and raised, Chef Gerardo was naturally drawn to the world of gastronomy. He studied culinary arts at the Professional Gourmet Academy and completed an internship at the J.W. Marriott in Caracas. After graduating in 2008, his curiosity led him to pursue a degree in accounting while working as a kitchen assistant and cook in various restaurants. Over the years, Chef Gerardo gained experience in Greek, Spanish, Italian, and Peruvian cuisine, balancing both restaurant and banquet kitchens. His journey eventually took him to Morelia, Mexico, where he led the kitchen at Solar de Villagrán, a traditional Mexican restaurant with over 40 years of history. There, he embraced traditional Mexican flavors with pre-Hispanic influences, which became a key part of his culinary style. In 2023, Chef Gerardo joined Rosen Hotels & Resorts as a senior kitchen supervisor and quickly rose to become the chef of Mi Casa.

For Chef Gerardo, the most rewarding part of his job is leading and developing a passionate team to consistently deliver the best culinary experience possible. He finds great fulfillment in seeing his team grow and achieve outstanding results, knowing that their efforts create memorable dining experiences for guests. His main goal for Mi Casa is to make the restaurant the best Mexican dining experience in Orlando by fusing traditional Mexican flavors with new techniques. Achieving high standards of quality and service while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment is his top priority.

In his spare time, Chef Gerardo enjoys spending quality time with his family and reading. These activities help him recharge and stay inspired, bringing fresh energy and ideas into his work.
